Sauce Yakisoba(ソース焼きそば)

What kind of dish is Sauce Yakisoba??

Yakisoba is a very popular noodle dish in Japan. It is not only a home-cooked dish, but is also a staple at festival stalls.

The ingredients for yakisoba are usually pork, cabbage, and carrots. Seafood or offal can be used instead of pork.

Sauce-flavored yakisoba is the most popular, but there are many variations such as salt flavor, miso flavor, and kimchi flavor. Depending on personal preference, toppings such as green laver, pickled ginger, mayonnaise, karashi, and bonito flakes are added.

Yakisoba noodles often come with yakisoba powder sauce included.

However, you can easily make authentic yakisoba sauce using ingredients that you have at home, so we encourage you to try making your own sauce.

The taste will change depending on the type of sauce you use, such as Worcestershire sauce or chuno sauce.

This yakisoba sauce recipe uses a Kagome product, which is available at any supermarket.

“Gotochi yakisoba” refers to a distinctive type of yakisoba eaten in a particular region.

The three major yakisoba in Japan are 「Yokote yakisoba」, 「Ota yakisoba」, and 「Fujinomiya yakisoba」.

Fujinomiya yakisoba

The ingredients for “Yokote yakisoba” are minced pork and cabbage. The biggest feature is that it is topped with a half-boiled fried egg and fukujinzuke.

Ota yakisoba” does not use meat, but only cabbage. For topping, sprinkle a generous amount of green laver on top. The sauce used has a distinctive black color.

Fujinomiya yakisoba” is characterized by the use of lard (pork oil) and a generous sprinkling of sardine powder.

As you can see, there are many variations to be enjoyed with just one type of sauce yakisoba.

There are no particular rules, so have fun and find your own taste!
