  • Sweet potato(紅はるか) 600g
  • Apple 300g
  • Raisin 50g
  • Lemon juice 5g
  • Sugar 60g

How to make Satsumaimo amani (Sweet potato and apple compote)

※Soaking in water is to remove the lye. You can prevent discoloration of sweet potatoes by removing Lye. In addition, sweet potato skins are rich in anthocyanins, calcium, and dietary fiber. To maximize its effectiveness, use it without peeling the skin. Please wash carefully before use.

  1. Cut the sweet potato into bite-sized pieces and soak in water for 5 minutes.
  2. Apples are peeled and cut into bite-sized pieces. Remove apple skins, as they discolor easily and have an unpleasant texture.
  3. Add enough water to cover the sweet potatoes and apples and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  4. When the sweet potato becomes soft enough to eat, add raisins, sugar and lemon juice and simmer.
