Tonpeiyaki(とんぺい焼き)

What kind of dish is Tonpeiyaki??

Tonpeiyaki is a dish made by frying pork, cabbage, and bean sprouts and wrapping them in egg. It is usually seasoned with okonomiyaki sauce and mayonnaise.

A popular teppanyaki dish. “Teppan” means iron plate, and “yaki” means stir-fry. In Japanese, it is written as “鉄板焼き”.

Teppanyaki includes okonomiyaki, yakisoba, steak, and more.

In the restaurant where tonpeiyaki originated, the dough made from wheat flour is spread thinly like a crepe, pork loin is placed on top, and then egg is placed on top and seasoned with ketchup.

Konamon ryori” is a term that refers to staple foods made with wheat flour. For this reason, tonpeiyaki was originally called “konamon ryori” like okonomiyaki and takoyaki.

This dish has undergone major changes and is now made without flour, with stir-fried vegetables wrapped in an egg sheet.

Tonpeiyaki does not use wheat flour and is full of vegetables, so it is healthier than okonomiyaki and takoyaki. It is also easy to make with cheap ingredients.

The combination of okonomiyaki sauce, bonito flakes, and green laver is the best.

It’s also delicious with cheese, kimchi, or beni shoga(pickled ginger). Try sprinkling shichimi pepper or finding your favorite seasoning. And, although it may be unusual, it’s also delicious with natto.

Otafuku sauce

Otafuku’s okonomiyaki sauce is a sauce made by blending vegetables and fruits such as tomatoes, dates, onions, and apples with spices and vinegar. The secret to its deliciousness is the raw ingredient “dates.” Use it not only on okonomiyaki, but also on your favorite dishes such as hayashi rice and hamburger steak.

Doro sauce

“Doro Sauce” is one of the most representative products manufactured by Oliver Sauce Co., Ltd.

The origins of this Doro Sauce came from the discovery of value in a by-product that is left over from the production of Worcestershire sauce.

Worcestershire sauce is made by boiling vegetables, fruit, sugar, salt, vinegar and spices, and then taking the liquid that separates.

The by-product that does not liquefy and remains as a sediment, called “Doro,” was the result of research into how to use this product, and Doro Sauce was born. (Doro is a word that means mud.)

The deliciousness of this matured sauce with its unique spicy flavor is unmatched.
