About Okonomiyaki
“Okonomi” means to like or love. As the name suggests, okonomiyaki is a popular dish among a wide range of generations.
The sauces used for yakisoba, takoyaki, and okonomiyaki are all basically similar, but yakisoba sauce is a little spicier than the others, while okonomiyaki sauce is sweeter, and all of them have a wonderful aroma that whets the appetite.
This dish is made with plenty of cabbage and grated yam. These vegetables protect the stomach and promote digestion.
The grated yam gives the dish a chewy texture and prevents the batter from becoming dry.
Okonomiyaki may seem like a very heavy dish, but it is actually rich in vegetables and protein, so it has a healthy side.
Types of okonomiyaki:
- Osaka style
- It is made by mixing a flour batter with cabbage and then frying it in a teppan or frying pan.
- Hiroshima style
- It is made by cooking a batter made of flour and water, topping it with cabbage, and topping it with ingredients such as pork belly, then steaming and flipping it over. In most cases, it is topped with fried noodles and a fried egg.
