What kind of dish is Taco Rice (Ketchup ground beef rice) ?
Taco rice is a dish that originated in Okinawa, Japan, and is based on the Mexican taco.
Taco meat is ground meat seasoned with salsa, ketchup, and spices, and is topped on rice with lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese.
(Sometimes chili con carne is used instead of taco meat. I distinguish between taco meat and chili con carne by whether or not it contains beans.)
There are many taco seasoning blends available.
Standard spices are garlic, paprika powder, cumin, oregano, and chili powder. However, there’s no problem with using your favorite ingredients, such as curry powder or Cajun spice.
There are no strict rules regarding the ingredients used for seasoning, such as canned tomatoes, tomato juice, ketchup, or Worcestershire sauce.
This article introduces a standard recipe that can be easily made with a few ingredients.
My recommended toppings are tortilla chips, Sriracha sauce, avocado, and cilantro. Feel free to choose your toppings based on your taste and mood.

- Olive oil (5g)

- Red onion (100g)

- Green chili pepper (10g)

- Steamed Rice (140g×5=700g)
- Lettuce (55g)
- Red onion (30g)
- Yellow bell pepper (30g)
- Tomatoes (100g)

How to make Taco Rice (Ketchup ground beef rice)
- Chop the garlic.
- Chop the red onion, bell pepper, and green chili pepper into 5mm cubes.
- In a frying pan with heated olive oil, sauté the garlic and ground beef.
- Once the ground beef changes color, sprinkle with salt and pepper and mix.
- Add the red onion, bell pepper, and green chili pepper to the frying pan and sauté.
- Add the paprika powder, curry powder, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup and sauté slowly.
- Wash the lettuce, pat dry, and cut into bite-sized pieces.
- Slice the red onion and yellow bell pepper.
- Slice the tomatoes (you can also dice them).
- Cut the lime.
- Chop the cilantro.
- Place taco meat, lettuce, red onion, yellow bell pepper, tomato, cheese, and lime on top of rice.
