What kind of food is okra??

Okra is known as lady’s finger in some English-speaking countries.

It is grown in tropical, subtropical and temperate regions around the world and is used in many countries’ cuisines. It is well known as an ingredient in gumbo, a local dish of Louisiana.

The source of okra’s characteristic stickiness is mucin and pectin. Mucin protects the stomach mucosa and helps digest protein, while pectin is said to reduce cholesterol in the blood and lower blood sugar and blood pressure.

Fresh okra can be eaten raw, but it is said that it is best not to eat too much.

Okra has fine hairs on its surface, so if you sprinkle salt on it and rub the okra together before cooking, it will have a better texture. However, I don’t mind this, so I use it as is.

If you chop boiled okra into small pieces, it will become sticky. If you don’t like the stickiness, mixing it with tomatoes or dressing will make it more acidic, which will weaken the stickiness of the okra’s dietary fiber.
